WBF - can you elaborate on what they were saying about how to treat disfellowshipped family members and others that had left?

Day 2 of the Convention is over ... what's missing?
by wannabefree inday number 2 is done.. there was an audio drama, sure, it adds some excitement, hey, its different.. final talk "stay close to jehovah, as jeremiah did" ended with the release of the book ... god's word for us through jeremiah ... not a verse by verse consideration of prophecy, rather, what we can learn from jeremiah's life as a prophet, considers information from jeremiah and lamentations.
(of course informed readers of this site knew of this release already.).
noticibly missing ... jesus christ ... to me it was painfully obvious.. one talk i think was numbing our mind to accept the generation bomb tomorrow.. i couldn't help but realize that throughout the convention so far, the vast majority of scriptural references are from old testament (yes, it was hard not to say hebrew scriptures, so i just did).. i didn't realize it so much in the past, but it seems like jehovah's witnesses are trying to accomplish what the nation of israel couldn't, follow laws.

The Grandest "witness" that each of us could give to the world looks to be shortly upon us. Will you be there? (In honor of Ray Franz)
by StoneWall inmany of us are aware of the stroke that raymond franz had yesterday,.
that he is on life support and it doesn't look like he is going to pull through.. someone on another thread mentioned if he didn't survive how many.
was planning on attending his funeral.. to me this deserves its own thread.. .

B-rock, I do believe your post violates points 1, 2 and 3 of the posting guidelines.
Was that really necessary?

The hardest decision a spouse could ever make. It's hard to imagine what Cynthia is going through, her heart must be breaking.
It's good to hear that Ray's not in any pain.
Our hearts go out to Cynthia.
Ray touched so many lives - what a great legacy he leaves.
He will never be forgotten. This is not the end.

South East England - love of the greater number cooling off
by truthseeker inhi everyone, in the congregation i grew up in, it was very cold and unloving.
circuit overseers would come and go, they would give counsel and nothing changed.
at one time even the do came at the same time as the co and gave counsel to 'widen out'.

I have fond memories of growing up a JW in the SE. But then my family was very social and popular. We weren't stony broke and we weren't stinkin' rich. Just pretty average, I guess. However, my first congregation Keston had a reputation for being made up of all the snobby well off JW's and there were no children my age so all my friends were older - I looked up to them but never felt completely accepted and in their league. We had two main influential powerful family dynasties - the Davidsons and the Hunts. We also had the Rastall family - David, Lorna, Jonathan and Andrew and their adopted daughter (?). They were a lovely family, albeit uber-spiritual. When I was 16 we moved to West Wickham congregation, they shared Keston's KH but couldn't have been more different a cong - much more down to earth and a lot less well off . . . not a very exciting cong but a few more kids my age at least. As soon as I was old enough, whilst still living at home, I moved to Penge - a pretty fun congregation. Lots of different nationalities and funny characters, more social events and some great speakers that helped the meetings go by quicker. I would consider it a pretty friendly cong and although a London cong, technically still the South East.
Being on the Quickbuild team as a youngster was also a lot of fun - everywhere we went we all had a laugh and there was a great bond between us all and the local congregations all looked after the workers very well and were particularly friendly.
Dorking, Camber, Hayesbridge, Twickenham and Crystal Palace assemblies - fond memories of the doughnuts and ice creams at Dorking, waitressing at Camber and the food tickets at Twickenham. There also seemed a much more friendly community spirit when there was food service. Once that went, the whole thing started to fall apart. The org seems to clamp down on everything that's fun, doesn't exactly bring out the best in people.
My last memory of Hayesbridge was after the renovation when it suddenly resembled a Barclays conference centre (before the marble floors though). Some idiot had designed the mothers and babies room to be the most uncomfortable, un-baby friendly place you could imagine. Being an exhausted mother with a new baby and a toddler struggling to be Miss Perfect JW that was my tipping point . . .

just created a site www.jwfacts.com
by jwfacts ini just put together a site that tries to logically show the witnesses are not the true religion.
just wondering how to get the information out to people that most need it.
also any ideas on how to get the site found by search engines.

Just goes to show what someone can achieve in a short space of time - who knew Paul that your site would be become one of the most important to help 'set people free'. How the little one has become a mighty one . . .
A big thank you to you Paul for all the hard work that has gone into your site.

for getting ready for all of those meetings and doing their best to study before hand and comment.

Beautiful post wf, thanks to Goldensky for bringing it to my attention. You're obviously a great mum wf and it's wonderful to hear that you have all come out the other side intact.
